  19. I found some interesting material regarding serial ports and uarts as
  20. implemented on pc's that may be of interest to you. Anon ftp to
  21. ftp://ftp.netcom.com/pub/jo/jodell/msdos/serial if you would like to
  22. see for yourself.  Included is quite a bit of both C code and i86
  23. assembly code.
